How to Incorporate a Flexible Work Week Without Losing Productivity

Most employees had to adjust to working from home since the epidemic, radically altered the way firms functioned. There have been reports of employees returning to the workplace now. The benefits of allowing workers to work from home have been recognized, and as a result, many firms have elected to incorporate flexible work schedules into their planning. Work-life balance is critical to the success of both firms and employees, and flexible schedules can facilitate this. Now that everyone has experienced working remotely, it is taken for granted that their employer will offer a hybrid scheduling option (Shankar, 2021).

When working with a more fluid timetable, leaders must make extra efforts to maintain communication. Managers should keep up with virtual and in-person team meetings, but they should also schedule regular one-on-ones with employees to address any concerns they may have. Plan regular one-on-one sessions with employees and draft agenda items to facilitate more structured discourse. Focus on the people in the room, applaud their successes, and encourage them to talk about their struggles and plans for professional growth. To help your staff with administrative needs, consider setting up virtual office hours for different departments (such as finance and operations) (Vijay, 2022).

It is important to establish core hours when designing a flexible work schedule in order to keep people productive. Everyone is expected to put in their whole effort during core hours. Employees will be able to communicate and work together during core hours while yet having enough freedom to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Find out what times are most convenient for your business if you want to establish regular working hours. Don't fall into the trap of offering too many "core hours" per day in the interest of giving workers ample leeway (Papadakis, 2023).

Employers should invest in their employees' work tools and technology in addition to providing them with flexible work hours. Companies can save time and money by investing in employee onboarding, training, and performance tracking software and making it available to workers at their convenience. Offering training and means to track progress, especially in the digital realm, will reassure workers that their employer cares about them and their professional development. Harvest and Lattice are two excellent examples of such platforms. Employees will feel more responsible for their work, you'll have happier workers, and retention will go up thanks to these programs (Shankar, 2021).

To guarantee that employees in a remote workforce understand their responsibilities and can complete them on time, the company's goals and objectives must be clearly stated and communicated. It will also encourage your staff to give their absolute best effort. Always make sure the organization is on the right track by reviewing goals and making any necessary adjustments on a frequent basis (Papadakis, 2023).
